Mountain Scholars is a faith-based Christian organization, operating as an educational Ministry with adherence to a statement of faith. 

Spiritual Qualifications

  • Our teachers profess faith in Christ.  
  • Our teachers affirm agreement with core Christian doctrine. 
  • Our teachers’ lives and character are consistent with a follower of Jesus Christ. 
  • Our teachers are able to explain the Gospel of Jesus Christ. 
  • Our teachers are students of the Bible and understand concepts in the Bible.
  • Our teachers are committed to and in fellowship with a local church. 
  • Teachers will submit a reference from their pastor/priest or other spiritually mature Christian mentor. 

Professional Qualifications 

  • Our teachers shall be in agreement with the stated mission and philosophy of the ministry as outlined in the Teacher Handbook. 
  • Our teachers shall be talented or spiritually gifted to teach.
  • Our teachers shall possess the knowledge required to teach their subject. 
  • Our teachers shall have had sufficient training in pedagogy and curriculum by the Classical Latin Schools Association, or be willing to undergo training as directed and provided by the Head of School. 
  • Our teachers shall have teaching ability and academic proficiency for teaching their content.  
  • Our teachers shall submit to DOJ (livescan) fingerprints, TB testing and mandated reporter training. 

Statement of Faith

Nicene Creed

We believe in one God,the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ.
The only Son of God, begotten from the Father before all ages, God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God, begotten, not made; of the same essence as the Father, through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven; he became incarnate by the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary,
and was made human.
He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate; he suffered and was buried.
The third day he rose again, according to the scriptures.He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again with glory to judge the living and the dead. His kingdom will never end.
And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life.He proceeds from the Father and the Son,
and with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified.He spoke through the prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church.
We affirm one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look forward to the resurrection of the dead, and to life in the world to come. Amen.

Statement on Marriage, Gender, and Sexuality

WE BELIEVE that God created human beings as either male or female, and that God created men and women as unique biological genetic persons made to complement each other. We believe God’s plan for human sexuality is to be expressed only within the context of monogamous marriage, between one biological genetic male and one biological genetic female.
