Rhetoric (High School)
Ages 14+
Continuing our homeschool hybrid model, Mountain Scholars’ Rhetoric program partners with Wilson Hill Academy, a fully accredited online honors school that delivers live courses from master teachers in the classical tradition. All students are required to take a full schedule of classes from Wilson Hill Academy.
Rhetoric students take a required course in Academic Writing, Logic, or Rhetoric each year as well as continuing with a yearly “The Great Conversation” course focused on helping them to develop the habit of close reading and examination of the main ideas while cultivating deeper skills of thinking, integration, and expression. Students fill their schedule with two or three additional courses in Math, Science, Foreign Language or other electives.
Two diploma options are available, and students must meet the minimum credits required each year to keep them on track for High School Graduation plan of their choice. Academic and diploma planning is done in consultation with the Rhetoric and/or Academic Director in order to maintain the Mountain Scholars standard of academic excellence and ensure graduation requirements are met.
